Michael Jinks

Michael John Jinks, born 18th September 1990, grew up in Kingstanding, Birmingham, England.After a typically boyish childhood filled with muddy shoes, grazed knees and the odd bloody nose, Michaels secondary school teachers encouraged him into the arts and after a slight detour of travelling Europe and working for the NHS, he began his acting training under David Vann at The Birmingham School of Acting. A year later, Michael headed south (London) where he continued his training at the Courtyard Theatre. While training, Michael developed a keen interest in film, and began writing reviews. During this time he published a 10,000+ word document on the 365 different films he watched on 365 consecutive days. His love affair with film, in particular the medium of celluloid, would only grow deeper over the next few years.After graduating, Michael was thrown into a Bulgarian television pilot, a 3 week shoot, set in the hills of Sofia and on the beaches on the east coast of Bulgaria. Instead of returning to London, Michael spent some time travelling Australia, working in the outback, and then returned to London safe in the knowledge that if 800 cattle or sheep were walking aimlessly down a street, he would know what to do! Instead his first act back on home soil was a period drama, on a farm (with one horse) England and the road to modernity.Michael continues to develop himself as an actor/director and human, and is often trying new things. He continues to practice martial arts in London, as well as rock climbing/football/badminton.He quickly picked up roles in Londons bustling theatre scene, working at venues like The Royal Court Theatre, The Arts Theatre, St James theatre and was well reviewed in his shows. This lead to him performing at the Edinburgh fringe festival, and landing his first BBC gig, on Doctors, a much loved daytime TV soap.Michael has continued to work across theatre/TV/Film and even made his own short film, on super 8mm which was long listed for the Cannes film festival. His first Hollywood feature film came in the summer of 2016, which also saw him return to Bulgaria, this time at Nu Boyana film studios to shoot Hitman's Bodyguard directed by Patrick Hughes.
